The Unitarian Universalist- United Nations Office and Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) are throwing a Charity Gala to Support the Human Rights of the Global LGBTQ Community

January 20, 2012– New York, NY – The Unitarian Universalist United Nations
Office is collaborating with GLAAD to host a breakthrough event “Love Beyond
Borders: Equality and Acceptance for All” to spread the message that love exists
beyond political borders and is not limited to identifying characteristics such as,
gender, race, class, creed, sexual orientation and gender identity. The Unitarian
Universalist United Nations Office (UU-UNO), and Gay & Lesbian Alliance
Against Defamation (GLAAD) have joined together to support Human Rights of
the global Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer (LBGTQ) community.
The UU-UNO is the only faith-based organization with a sexual
orientation/gender identity (SOGI) human rights advocacy program at the United
Nations. They work to ensure that our policy makers remember the millions of
LGBTQ voices around the world who suffer from oppression.
The Unitarian Universalist United Nations Office leads a growing coalition of
progressive faith and secular voices, which promote the moral equality of all
sexual orientations and gender identities and advance the progress SOGI human
rights. As a leading non-profit organization, they believe that people, gay or
straight, must come together to usher in an accepting and positive world. The
UU-UNO works closely with the United Nations system and its agencies, such as
UNAIDS, UNESCO, UNDP, UNICEF, and the Office of the UN High
Commissioner for Human Rights.
