So, Hello Joy Daily TV. Just caught your docu on Cake Soap. Great show. On point, why do ‘white’ people prefer to tan? All the reasons the one gal listed are valid. However, while the ‘looks’ and Social Signaling are certainly what people are doing and yes, that perfect, ‘caramel’ color is artistically ideal for ‘fashion’ including tats, it isn’t just that. When I white person is exposed to the sun, it really hurts. Okay, so, it’s hard to explain…but, it really hurts!! It’s a constant burning. Have you ever had a burn? It really hurts! So, when I tan a bit and have increased melanin, I don’t hurt and can be exposed with confidence. This is a very big point that I thought you might miss. That’s point No. 1. White people are motivated by the strength increase with increase melanin. We call it a ‘base tan’ or the tan that will prevent a burn. It’s critical to get that base tan before any increased exposure and every white person knows this. Second, as referenced in your video, the ideal of Wealth as expressed by appearance, Social Signaling. In the day, and it seems in Jamaica, being able to stay indoors all day was Rich. Only rich people could avoid the sun, so, it was a Signal to Community of Wealth. This is not just for white people, but all people. Fine clothes are also referenced in your video as a signal of wealth. Yes, in all colonized spaces, there was mixing with white and yes, the white mix offspring were given Social Status that was very real and desirable. This is true in India and all over the world. The wealth bestowed upon the offspring created a class, who wouldn’t want to have those privileges; education, access to gov’t, loans and advances, ownership, etc.? Basically, every race with improved melanin ratios has been tainted (physiologically damaged) with this paradigm. So, in Jamaica, it seems, there is the ‘white decedent’ signal along with the signal for Air Condition Prestige, all from the skin. In contrast, in white culture, Being stuck indoors means never having been on Vaca or ever in the sun. Being in the sun for the white is to be on Holiday. Only the wealthy can have a holiday like that. So, the strengthened melanin enriched skin signals a person who can afford a Holiday. It isn’t so much about body dysmorphia as it is about Social Signaling of Status and Wealth. I think that’s what the people were trying to say. I will say, this is a not a problem in white culture as white people have the sunscreen out and other Social Signals that work better…like, being healthy or thin or not wearing ‘trash’ clothes. While for black people, this is a serious health risk. Thank you for taking it on. Interesting look. Now I want to visit the beautiful country of Jamaica.
